Description

The Il Maggese self-catering apartments are located in the handsome stone-built Villa Ferranti in the small hamlet of Montanare near Cortona.

The mid-19th century villa, on a farm estate growing olives and vines, has recently been modernized to provide new kitchens and bathrooms, but retains all its period character.

All four apartments have a wealth of original features and are furnished with antiques. The villa is set in a large garden with swimming pool for the use of guests.

 

The surrounding countryside, dotted with clusters of old farmhouses and oak and chestnut woods, is ideal for walking, cycling and horseriding.

Conveniently located a few minutes' walk away, just outside the property, is an excellent restaurant.

About 10 minutes away by car along an excellent asphalt road are the outskirts of Cortona, a major art-historical centre with numerous buildings and works of art from the Etruscan, medieval and Renaissance periods.

The location of Il Maggese provides easy road access to other parts of Tuscany (Montepulciano and Pienza southwest across the Val di Chiana) and also east to Umbria (Perugia, Assisi).
Key sites on the "Piero della Francesca Trail" are within striking distance: Arezzo, San Sepolcro, Monterchi. There is good access to fast road routes to Siena, Florence and Rome.
